Terms and Conditions for Grants

Offer of Grant

Grants are made to your organisation (you) for the amount notified to you separately in your grant letter based on the terms and conditions set out in this document (the Terms), subject to any variations contained in your grant letter.

  1. Grants
    1. Your grant may only be used for the charitable purpose described by you in your grant application (the Purpose). If you are unable to use the grant for the Purpose or there are any changes made to the Purpose, you must inform us immediately to obtain our approval for any deviations
    2. We reserve the right to withhold a grant or require repayment if: we find that any false information is supplied to us deliberately; the grant is used for purposes other than set out in the grant application and we have not approved any changes; or your organisation ceases normal operations.
    3. You have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that any information provided to us through the application process is both complete and accurate and has been provided with the explicit consent of the individual(s) concerned.
    4. You must comply with all laws and legal requirements applicable to the Purpose, including but not limited to: requirements relating to data protection; safeguarding of children and vulnerable people; and equality of opportunity.
    5. You will keep appropriate records: how the grant has been spent, including keeping copies of invoices and receipts; evidence of any work, items or equipment funded by the grant. These records must be available for inspection at any reasonable time.
    6. You will acknowledge receipt of the Grant in an appropriate and timely way and will confirm that the grant has or will be spent for the Purpose.
    7. You will refund to us any part of the grant that is not required for the Purpose, or not spent within the agreed timescale.

2.1 We will use the information you give us during the application process and during and after the lifetime of any Grant for administration, analysis and research purposes.

2.2 You may include MARGARET’S FUND name in your organisation’s accounts, donor lists and in any newsletters or updates you may produce, including on your website. If you would like to highlight MARGARET’S FUND in any other way, we request that you obtain our prior approval.

2.3 We reserve the right to make public the name of your organisation and the broad nature of any offers and grants, but we will not disclose any detail, except in confidence to any advisers and as required by law and/or by regulators, such as the Charity Commission.

The Board of Trustees will monitor any complaint and ensure that each complaint is dealt with professionally, appropriately and promptly. We will acknowledge any e-mailed complaints within 5 working days of receipt. Postal correspondence will receive an answer or acknowledgement within 5 working days. You will receive a full response to your written complaint within 10 working days. If you feel that your complaint has not been dealt with fairly, you can write to the Charity Commission.
